Nearly everyone has a smart phone these days - even my parents who are retired have them.

So, what are the best baby monitors with smart phone capability?  Let's take a look at 2 of the best available in Australia.  This is a review of the Kodak Cherish C525 verse the Owlet Cam.

The Owlet Cam has a higher camera resolution than the Kodak Cherish C525.  The streaming video on the Owlet Cam is sharp and crisp with a very wide viewing angle.  However, the Kodak does have pan and tilt which can be controlled remotely.

The Owlet Cam feels like an Apple product, that is, it's solid, compact and has weight.  The feel of the Kodak Cherish C525 is light and plastic.  If the appearance of the camera matters, then the Owlet is a good looking design.  I look how the camera attaches to the base with magnet.  Though, the pan and tilt feature of the Kodak is fun to use.

The Kodak Cherish C525 comes with a parent unit.  That is, you do not need your smart phone to view the video.  There are no parent units with the Owlet Cam.  Should the WIFI at you home go down or there are issues with your mobile phone network, then only the Kodak Cherish C525 will work.  The Kodak camera and the parent unit will work without any wifi connection - an excellent option for that extra peace of mind or you are are not tech savvy.

Downloading the app and setup was pretty easy for both of these cameras.  The Kodak was just a little easier to setup.

Why buy the Owlet Cam?  Fantastic video quality and works with the Owlet Smart Sock.

Why buy the Kodak Cherish C525? It comes with a parent unit that works without wifi and has pan and tilt camera.

These plenty of other features for both of these phones.  Both are of high quality and have good tech support.
